Look at the Advocacy section on the engage! website for some organizations that you can contact in order to get more involved.
If you don't find your passion represented there, simply research you interest area and find an association that is already serving in that area.

Political Opportunities
Look at the Advocacy section on the engage! website for some volunteer organizations that you can contact in order to get more involved.
If you're interested in serving on a civic committee, call you local government, school, county government or your State Representative or Senator and tell them of your interest and background. (See Government section for a direct weblink to your local, state and federal government.)
Don't stop there! If you have a particular interest/concern that is not listed, research your interest find an association that is advocating for the issue. Call them, check 'em out, and if you feel they are a well researched, board/member driven association, get involved!

There are a large number of nonprofits both in Texas and Virginia, and throughout the U.S., that are serving with a specific mission statement in mind. Simply google your interest area in whatever state you are in and see where your research leads you!
